Vancouver is a city located on the northern bank of the Columbia River in Washington State and forms part of the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area -- the 23rd largest metropolitan area in the US. There are also a number of express routes into Portland’s downtown. Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides service to Vancouver with three routes – the Coast Starlight, the Empire Builder, and the Amtrak Cascades.
