Another affordable housing complex is set to rise along the path of Metro's new Crenshaw/LAX Line.
The latest development, slated for a site at 6501 Crenshaw Boulevard, comes from an entity known as Hope on Hyde Park, LP and the Foundation for Affordable Housing. Plans call for the construction of a 90-unit rental complex featuring studio and one-bedroom apartments at a site that is currently occupied by a church.
The project team is seeking $25 million in state bond revenue to finance land acquisition and the construction of the project, in addition to Federal low-income housing tax credits.
City Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson, who represents the surrounding Hyde Park community, introduced a motion earlier this month that calls for the City to waive its Multi-family Bond Policy to allow for a release of the funds. His motion was adopted by the full Council yesterday.
Besides the proposed Hope on Hyde Park development, other planned affordable housing projects in the area include a 70-unit senior development planned at 54th Street and Crenshaw, and the 43-unit Depot at Hyde Park at 6527 Crenshaw.
